PSPad – a freeware python editor

PSPad editor is one of the free python editor with support for a wide variety of syntax highlighting profiles and many advanced features geared towards web developers and programmers. It comes with a hex editor, CP conversion, text differences, templates, macros, spell check option, auto-completion, Code Explorer and many other features. The program is pre-configured for the most popular programming languages (VB, C++, SQL, PHP, ASP, Python etc.) and you can further customize the syntax settings.PSPad includes several additional tools that are especially useful for HTML editing (compress, format code) and also integrates TopStyle Lite and TidyHTML. PSPad can be used as IDE for a compiler to catch and parse the compiler output.Additional features include support for project, file browsing, custom shortcuts, built-in FTP client to edit files.

Editor PSPad supports file types:
C++, Cobol, MS-Dos batch, CSS, Forth, Fortran, FoxPro, HTML, XHTML, INI, Inno Setup, Java, JavaScript, KixStart, Object Pascal, Perl, PHP, Python, RSS, SQL, TCL/TK, Unix ShellScript, VBScript, Visual Basic, X86 assembler and other 120+ languages included as user highlighter definition.
Full program version including English help file. PSPad does not require installation, it can be simply unpacked into any directory. The archive contains subdirectories and must be unpacked with subdirectory preservation enabled. Desktop and Start menu links, as well as system integration can be later created by choosing Program Settings/System Integration from PSPad’s Settings menu and selecting the appropriate checkboxes. Everything is user controllable. Also available is an installer version that will automatically perform all of these tasks according to user preference.

PSPad installer contains bundled third-party software. During installation you have choice to accept or decline it.In case you run installer in silent mode or with /nobundle switch, no bundled software is installed.
The distribution does not contain spellcheck dictionaries. However, these can be downloaded freely from this page. PSPad beta versions are published in the PSPad beta forum. If you discover a problem, please have a look at the beta forum first to ensure that the issue has not been addressed already.
